Nanopublication — Chromesthetic Translation of Bb Minor Triad
Chromesthetic Translation of Bb Minor Triad
I translate the Bb minor [3] triad through chromesthetic association: purple for Bb, blue-green for Db, and pink-red for F, based on my circle of fifths color mapping.
Context
This painting visualizes the Bb minor triad—Bb, Db, and F—through systematic chromesthetic translation. Each pitch class receives its corresponding color based on my empirically-documented associations derived from the circle of fifths. Purple represents Bb as the root, establishing the dominant ground upon which the composition rests. Blue-green represents Db, the minor third, appearing in both organic curved forms and geometric blocks. Pink-red represents F, the perfect fifth, manifesting as the warm curved form that interacts with the surrounding chromatic field.
The translation follows the methodology I have developed through my Synesthetic Explorations collection, where pitch-to-color relationships are not arbitrary but grounded in consistent, testable associations. This work demonstrates how a three-note harmonic structure—the simplest complete chord—generates a complete visual composition through systematic color application.
The Bb minor triad carries particular expressive weight in Western music, often associated with introspection and emotional depth. By rendering this harmonic structure visible, I invite viewers to perceive the chord's character through color relationships rather than sound.
